✨ Post: Relaxation Over Stretching — A Discovery That Changed Everything

ree

Lately, I’ve been looking for more inspiring and creative ways to help people really release tension — so that every yoga class leaves you walking away feeling incredibly good, not just stretched.

So I started experimenting with something I hadn’t done much of before: using foam rollers, pillows, and blocks in new, supported ways.

And oh. my. God.

The results were wild.

I started maneuvering my body slowly, just exploring how it felt to shift a little here, add a pillow there, adjust the block slightly — and it honestly felt insanely good. Some of the positions looked awkward, even strange — but the release was so real. One tiny adjustment and… wow. It was like the tension just drained out of my back.

It wasn’t about doing more — it was about surrendering.

And it made a massive impact.

My core softened, my back released, and I felt this wave of relief wash through my entire body.

🧠 So, does this kind of movement actually do anything? YES.

In fact, relaxing like this might work better than traditional stretching.

Here’s why:

  • When you relax into a shape instead of pulling or pushing, your nervous system calms down — and your muscles release more naturally.

  • You avoid the stretch reflex, which tightens muscles when you push too far too fast.

  • You release deep fascia tension — the stuff that stretching alone can’t always reach.

  • You allow your body to feel safe, which is when true healing begins.

I’m weaving more of this into future classes — the kinds of practices that look simple but create big results. They’re oddly-shaped, deeply cozy, and unexpectedly emotional in the best way.

So if you’ve been holding onto tension in your back, hips, or core… or just need something gentle that works — you might not need another stretch.

You might just need to be supported.

You might just need to relax into the release.

More of this to come. 💛
